Want to Reverse the Visible Signs of Skin Aging? Get an IPL Photofacial Today!
Brown spots, acne, broken blood vessels, fine lines, and wrinkles got you down? Don’t worry we got you!
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial is a non-invasive treatment that makes use of light energy to rejuvenate your skin. This treatment is very effective against brown patches/age spots, broken blood vessels and is a safe method for evening out skin tone and texture. Plus these treatments involve little to no downtime.
How does an IPL photofacial work?
IPL photofacials make use of visible pulsed light of a certain wavelength to remove blood vessels and pigmentation from the skin, non-surgically. The pulsed light technology in IPL treatments is less dangerous but more effective than laser light.
In this process, a flash of bright light passes through a filter which allows only a specific color of light to hit the skin. As the energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, the heat from these rays destroys the blood vessel or pigment by heating it up.
How long does it take to see results from an IPL Photofacial?
It takes around 3-5 months to get full results, however after the first treatment almost all patients experience a dramatic transformation of the skin. The treatment is generally performed in short 3-5 sessions performed one month apart.
Keep in mind the number of sessions is entirely dependent on your skin condition. If you have severe redness or damaged skin with brown spots, you could require five treatments or more.
We would highly recommend you book a free consultation with our skin care experts to find out exactly the number of treatments your specific skin conditions would require.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Since IPL is a minimally invasive treatment and makes use of light in controlled settings, you would not experience an extreme sense of discomfort after the treatment. However, the treated area might look red in colour, this majorly subside within a few hours.
After a light make-up application with our Colorescience line you can return to your work or your daily activities after the treatment.
What should I expect the day of treatment?
When you arrive at our facility, you will be taken to our procedure room. Our medical aesthetician will put glasses over your eyes to protect them. Next, they will apply a cool gel on your skin. Pulses of light are then flashed on your skin under very controlled settings. The entire procedure is completely comfortable and most patients experience minimal discomfort. However, since the blood vessels and spots and freckles are being treated, you might experience a temporary bit of sting in those areas.
Once the treatment is done, the nurse would wipe off the gel and clean the area with a warm cloth. A moisturizer and a sunscreen is applied, and you are allowed to go back to your day. In case of mild swelling, a cold pack is applied to the area for five to ten minutes.
How Long Will The Results Last?
The results depend on the amount of sun exposure your skin gets after the treatment. If you stay in the sun for long without protecting your skin with sunscreen, the issues like brown spots and redness will return. However, if you take good care of your skin, you can make the results last longer- annual maintenance plans will keep skin youthful looking as you age.
