Have you noticed the skin on your chin and down your neck become more loose and saggy, delicate and thin as you age? Do you see a “turkey waddle” beginning to develop? Are you feeling self-conscious about how old it makes you look because it doesn’t reflect the age you feel?
For both men and women with aging skin, laxity develops in the jowls and neck and can make you feel sensitive or insecure about your appearance. The loss of a defined jawline adds significantly to the aged look of your face.
Pregnancies can be tough on a woman’s body, especially the skin. Think about the multiple times your abdominal skin has stretched and retracted to your normal size. Has this process left you with loose tummy skin?
Saggy skin throughout the body is, of course, not limited to those who have been pregnant. Everyone is affected by loss of skin elasticity associated with the forces of gravity and aging. No one escapes it, but the wonders of light therapy can definitely reduce it.
You may be a great candidate for SkinTyte™ skin firming if you’re experiencing these issues. SkinTyte™ safely treats loose areas of skin anywhere on the face or body with wonderful results.
Skin Tightening – Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Sciton Profile has introduced the skin tightening (ST) module on its BBL (broad band light or intense pulsed light) machine. Skin Tightening reduces one’s appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Collagen is a protein molecule that is found in the skin, muscles, tendons and bones and provides basic structural support. With age, collagen is gradually lost in the mid-layers of the skin causing deterioration and deflation, causing facial lines, sagging and wrinkles.
There are all kinds of modalities on the market to stimulate collagen production by putting heat into the tissues. IPL, BBL, Thermage, Titan and ST to name a few. None of these procedures are a replacement for a surgical face lift but these procedures definitely help, especially in early stages of skin aging.
ST’s prolonged heating action penetrates to the collagen and causes it to contract and tightens it. New collagen production is triggered over the following six months. Besides the initial tightening, the full impact will be seen over the next two to six months because new collagen is still being produced.
Labia majora augmentation is another common medical esthetics procedure. The outer lips of the vulva become deflated and lax with age, pregnancy and weight loss. Labia majora aging appears to be similar to facial aging, with cosmetic deterioration being caused by loss of deep subcutaneous fat, collagen degradation, and hormonal fatty redistribution. With decreased projection of the majora outside of the minora, the minora actually appears to protrude more. Our skin tightening module is a collogen stimulator and is perfect for treating the labia majora and bringing back the ‘plumpness’ to the area.
How it works
The light penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin (dermis) where collagen production occurs. The heating of the collagen causes it to remodel itself. Histology slides show that the remodelling begins at approximately 6 weeks. While some clients have felt a change in texture after one treatment, results may take up to 6 months to see.
How many treatments?
Most guests should plan on five treatments at three to four week intervals.
Does it hurt?
Most guests would describe it as a warm, tingling sensation and not painful. No topical anesthesia or medication is required. These are gradual, relatively painless, fast treatments.
What can I expect after my treatment?
The skin may be pink or slightly red. There may be some mild swelling and temporary tenderness along the jaw line. You may be quite red after your treatment, however we give all of our guests a Colorescience application so you never leave looking like you have had a treatment.
How long is a session?
Each session takes approx. 20-30 minutes depending on the area.
What areas can be treated?
Anywhere on the body with loose skin.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Skin Tightening can be combined with many other procedures like BBL for photo damage, Botox®, acne treatments, microneedling and injectable fillers.
